UN in Serbia and the O3one Gallery announce a competition for muralists and street artists on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the UN

The topic of the competition coincides with issues that are most relevant for the citizens of Serbia, as identified in UN75 consultations with citizens.

On the occasion of the UN 75th anniversary, UN Country Team in Serbia and the O3one Gallery are announcing a competition for artists to paint mural at the UN House in Belgrade. The theme of the competition coincides with the official theme of the UN 75th anniversary "Shaping our Future Together". For the people in Serbia, according to the UN75 survey, environmental protection and climate change are the most important issues that should be addressed through international cooperation; increasing solidarity and improving universal access to health care are some of the main priorities.

As we want to emphasize the importance of these topics for all people in Serbia, and as a sign of gratitude to everyone for participating in the global consultations, we decided to paint these voices on the largest wall of the UN House in Serbia.

The theme of the competition is Planet Earth is Our Home. The topic should be localized to Serbia, with references to the natural, cultural and richness of communities in Serbia.

Additional information:

1. The competition is open to all artists (or groups of artists) who have at least two murals painted on the facades of large buildings.

2. The artists can refer to the following  Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for additional inspiration and content.

  • SDG 13 - Climate Action
  • SDG 7 - Clean Energy
  • SDG 15 - Life on Land
  • SDG 11 - Sustainable Cities and Communities
  • SDG 12 - Responsible production and consumption
  • SDG 10 – Reduced Inequalities
  • SDG 5 – Gender Equality
  • SDG 17 – Partnerships for the Goals
  • SDG 4 – Quality Education
  • SDG 3 – Good Health and Well Being

All walls should be entirely covered with murals, including the central part around the windows, as well as the space on the ground floor of the building.

The mural should present the above topic, using the relevant Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in order to raise awareness of the importance of the concept of sustainable development for the overall well-being of society.

Detailed wall dimensions:

The mural must display the UN75 logo in the lower left corner, as well as a SDG wheel next to it.

An expert jury consisting of representatives of UN agencies and the O3ONE Gallery Council will evaluate all works in the context of the artistic impression and interpretation of the theme.

The winner of the competition will receive a valuable prize in the amount of 2,500.00 euros in dinars at the middle exchange rate of the National Bank of Serbia.

The design of the mural cannot violate moral principles, generally binding law, the rights of third parties and there must be no legal shortcomings.

The cost of preparing the draft mural design is the responsibility of the participants. The costs of the participants' work on the facade, including the materials needed for implementation, as well as the logistical procedures, will be borne by the organizer of the competition.

The competition is open from October 9 to October 21, 2020 until 6 p.m.

The application for the competition consists of sending the conceptual design for the mural, personal data (name and surname, residential address, contact phone number and citizen's unique identification number), as well as photos of two implemented murals to the e-mail: un75@o3one.rs

The works on mural are planned from October 24 to October 30, 2020.
