Report on women's rights and gender equality in Serbia for 2023

Before you is the third report on women's rights and gender equality in Serbia, which covers the year 2023. This report was prepared as part of the project "Achieving Women's Rights in Serbia: Advocacy and Active Participation" with the support of the United Nations Agency for Gender Equality and Empowerment of Women in Serbia (UN Women) as part of the project "Key steps towards gender equality, phase II". financed by the European Union.

The report provides a brief overview of the position of women in Serbia in 2023, using the same methodology as in previous reports, that is, the structure of the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW Convention), which we adapted to the national context. This year's theme in focus refers to the position and exercise of the rights of rural women, bearing in mind that rural women are a group of women who are at increased risk of multiple discrimination.
