Living standards have improved substantially in the last two decades but remain significantly below European Union (EU) levels. A rapidly ageing population, low labour productivity and enduring inequalities are adding to Serbia’s long-term prosperity challenges.
Serbia has seen steady progress in human development outcomes but still lags behind aspirational peers, with progress uneven between geographical areas and socio-economic groups.
Better human development services are needed to ensure that every child and adult acquires quality human capital.
